This legislative proposal will strengthen the system of geographical indications: it will cover all agricultural products and sustainable-product designations linked to origin, empower producer groups, reduce internet theft, improve enforcement to underpin product authenticity for consumers and speed up registration procedures. It stems from the societal demands already identified in the strategic initiatives: Green Deal, Farm to Fork Strategy and upcoming Intellectual Property Action Plan.
