DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE
No 244/2014
of 24 October 2014
amending Protocol 31 to the EEA Agreement, on cooperation in specific fields outside the four freedoms [2015/1468]
THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,
Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (‘the EEA Agreement’), and in particular Articles 86 and 98 thereof,
Whereas:

the cooperation of the Contracting Parties to the EEA Agreement was extended to include limited participation in the telecommunications sector of Regulation (EU) No 1316/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2013 establishing the Connecting Europe Facility, amending Regulation (EU) No 913/2010 and repealing Regulations (EC) No 680/2007 and (EC) No 67/2010 (1) by Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 157/2014 of 9 July 2014 amending Protocol 31 to the EEA Agreement, on cooperation in specific fields outside the four freedoms [2015/92] (2). |

it is appropriate to extend the cooperation of the Contracting Parties to the EEA Agreement to include Regulation (EU) No 283/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 March 2014 on guidelines for trans-European networks in the area of telecommunications infrastructure and repealing Decision No 1336/97/EC (3). |

Protocol 31 to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended in order to allow for this extended cooperation to take place from 1 January 2014, |
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
The following indent is added in paragraph 5 of Article 2 of Protocol 31 to the EEA Agreement:

32014 R 0283: Regulation (EU) No 283/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 March 2014 on guidelines for trans-European networks in the area of telecommunications infrastructure and repealing Decision No 1336/97/EC (OJ L 86, 21.3.2014, p. 14).’ |
Article 2
This Decision shall enter into force on the day following the last notification under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement (*1).
It shall apply from 1 January 2014.
Article 3
This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union.
