DECISIÓN DEL CONSEJO
de 24 de mayo de 2004
por la que se nombran nuevos miembros del Comité Económico y Social

EL CONSEJO DE LA UNIÓN EUROPEA,
Visto el Tratado constitutivo de la Unión Europea y, en particular, su artículo 49,
Visto el Tratado constitutivo de la Comunidad Europea y, en particular, su artículo 259,
Visto el Tratado constitutivo de la Comunidad Europea de la Energía Atómica y, en particular, su artículo 166,
Vista el Acta relativa a las condiciones de adhesión de la República Checa, de Estonia, de Chipre, de Letonia, de Lituania, de Hungría, de Malta, de Polonia, de Eslovenia y de Eslovaquia y a las adaptaciones de los Tratados en los que se fundamenta la Unión Europea, y, en particular, sus artículos 14 y 48,
Vista la Decisión del Consejo, de 17 de septiembre de 2002, por la que se nombran los miembros del Comité Económico y Social para el período que cubre del 21 de septiembre de 2002 al 20 de septiembre de 2006,
Vistas las propuestas de los Gobiernos de la República Checa, de Estonia, de Chipre, de Letonia, de Lituania, de Hungría, de Malta, de Polonia, de Eslovenia y de Eslovaquia,
Tras haber consultado a la Comisión,
Considerando lo siguiente:

A raíz de la adhesión de la República Checa, de Estonia, de Chipre, de Letonia, de Lituania, de Hungría, de Malta, de Polonia, de Eslovenia y de Eslovaquia a la Unión Europea, procede completar el Comité Económico y Social mediante el nombramiento de noventa y cinco miembros, representantes de las diversas categorías económicas y sociales de la sociedad civil organizada. |

La composición del Comité debe tener en cuenta la necesidad de garantizar una representación adecuada de los distintos componentes económicos y sociales de la sociedad civil organizada, |
DECIDE:
Artículo único
Se nombran miembros del Comité Económico y Social a las personas cuyos nombres y funciones figuran en el anexo, para el período que concluye el 20 de septiembre de 2006 incluido.
Hecho en Bruselas, el 24 de mayo de 2004.
