Adapting liability rules to the digital age and Artificial Intelligence
Initiative summary:
Investment in and societal acceptance of emerging technologies require legal certainty and trust. Current rules on products ensures that producers compensate consumers for damage caused by defective products. It may be necessary to adapt this framework to the developments linked to the transition towards a circular and digital economy. In addition, the new challenges with Artificial Intelligence in the context of liability for damages caused by new and refurbished products will be addressed.
