Since the introduction of autonomous zero-duty Union’s tariff quotas for specific quantities of jute and coconut-fibre products by Regulation (EC) No 32/2000, as a result of the entry into force of the generalised scheme of preferences (GSP) in 1995, the tariff quotas have been repeatedly extended. The last extension ran until 31 December 2023.

As the period of application of Regulation (EU) No 978/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council (2) is extended beyond 31 December 2023 by virtue of Regulation (EU) 2023/2663 of the European Parliament and of the Council (3), the tariff quota arrangement for jute and coconut-fibre products should be extended accordingly.

Regulation (EC) No 32/2000 should therefore be amended accordingly.

For reasons of legal certainty, and in order to ensure the continued use of the tariff quotas, this Regulation should enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union and should apply from 1 January 2024.

The measures provided for in this Regulation are in accordance with the opinion of the Customs Code Committee,

‘from 1 January to 31 December each year until 31 December 2027 ’;

the text for serial number 09.0109 is replaced by the following:

‘from 1 January to 31 December each year until 31 December 2027 ’;

‘from 1 January to 31 December each year until 31 December 2027 ’.
