COUNCIL IMPLEMENTING REGULATION (EU) 2022/994

of 24 June 2022

implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/879 amending Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 concerning restrictive measures in view of Russia’s actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,

Having regard to Council Regulation (EU) 2022/879 of 3 June 2022 amending Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 concerning restrictive measures in view of Russia’s actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine (1), and in particular Article 1(21) thereof,

Having regard to the proposal from the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy,

Whereas:

On 3 June 2022, the Council adopted Regulation (EU) 2022/879, which amended Council Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 (2) and introduced further restrictive measures to suspend the broadcasting activities in the Union, or directed at the Union, of certain media outlets referred to in Annex VI to Regulation (EU) 2022/879. Pursuant to Article 1(21) of Regulation (EU) 2022/879, the applicability of such measures in respect of one or several of those media outlets is subject to the adoption of implementing acts by the Council.

Having examined the respective cases, the Council has concluded that the measures referred to in Article 2f of Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 should apply as of 25 June 2022 in respect of all entities referred to in Annex VI to Regulation (EU) 2022/879,

HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION:

Article 1

The measures referred to in Article 2f of Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 shall apply as of 25 June 2022 in respect of all entities referred to in Annex VI to Regulation (EU) 2022/879.

Article 2

This Regulation shall enter into force on the day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.

COUNCIL DECISION (CFSP) 2022/995

of 24 June 2022

concerning restrictive measures in view of Russia’s actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 29 thereof,

Having regard to the proposal from the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy,

Whereas:

On 31 July 2014, the Council adopted Decision 2014/512/CFSP (1), concerning restrictive measures in view of Russia’s actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine.

(2)

On 3 June 2022, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2022/884 (2), which amended Decision 2014/512/CFSP and introduced further restrictive measures to suspend the broadcasting activities in the Union, or directed at the Union, of certain media outlets referred to in point (4) of the Annex to Decision (CFSP) 2022/884. Pursuant to Article 1(14) of Decision (CFSP) 2022/884, the applicability of such measures in respect of one or several of those media outlets is subject to a further decision by the Council.

Having examined the respective cases, the Council has concluded that the restrictive measures referred to in Article 4g of Decision 2014/512/CFSP should apply as of 25 June 2022 in respect of all entities referred to in point (4) of the Annex to Decision (CFSP) 2022/884,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The measures referred to in Article 4g of Decision 2014/512/CFSP shall apply as of 25 June 2022 in respect of all entities referred to in in point (4) of the Annex to Decision (CFSP) 2022/884.

Article 2

This Decision shall enter into force on the day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
