DECISION OF THE BUREAU OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
of 18 May 2026
amending the Rules on access to the European Parliament

THE BUREAU OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT,
Having regard to Rule 25(2) and Rule 126 of the Rules of Procedure,
Whereas:

On 5 May 2025, the Bureau of the European Parliament adopted its Decision on the Rules on access to the European Parliament (1) (the ‘Rules’), which governs access to the premises of the European Parliament. |

In accordance with Article 2(6) of the Rules, visitors invited by Members of the European Parliament, including the Chairs of the political groups and the members of the Bureau, are to be met at one of the European Parliament’s entrances and accompanied at all times while on the European Parliament’s premises either by the Member who issued the invitation or by that Member’s accredited or local assistant. |

In order to provide greater flexibility to Members and their offices in the management and reception of such visitors, Members' trainees should be included among the persons authorised to meet and accompany duly pre-registered visitors invited by Members, |
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
In Article 2 of the Rules, paragraph 6 is replaced by the following:
‘6. The visitors referred to in paragraphs 4 and 5 shall be met by the Member that issued the invitation, by that Member’s assistant or by that Member’s trainee at one of Parliament’s entrances. They shall be permanently accompanied by the Member, by that Member’s assistant or by that Member’s trainee during the entire time that they spend on Parliament’s premises.’.
Article 2
This Decision shall enter into force on the day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
