RECRUITMENT FOR THE EUROPEAN MEDICINES AGENCY (LONDON)

The Agency is responsible for coordinating the evaluation and supervision of medicinal products for human and veterinary use in the European Union (see European Parliament and Council Regulation (EC) No 726/2004 of 31 March 2004, Official Journal of the European Union L 136 of 30 April 2004). The EMEA was established in January 1995. It has many close contacts with the European Commission, 25 EU Member States, EEA-EFTA countries and many other groups in government and the private sector.

The European Medicines Agency is organising selection procedures with a view to drawing up a reserve list for:

EMEA/A/219: Administrator, Medical Information Sector, Unit for the Post-Authorisation Evaluation of Medicines for Human Use (A*6); |
— |
EMEA/A/220: Administrator, Document Management/IT Specialist, Document Management and Publishing Sector, Communications and Networking Unit (A*6); |
— |
EMEA/A/221: Assistant Accounting Officer (A*6-A*8). |
Selected candidates will be included on a reserve list and, depending on the budgetary situation, may be offered a five-year renewable contract in accordance with the Conditions of employment of other servants of the European Communities (Official Journal of the European Communities L 56 of 4 March 1968).
The place of employment shall be London.
Candidates must be nationals of a Member State of the European Communities, or of Iceland, Norway or Liechtenstein, on condition that they have full rights as a citizen.

On pages 19 and 35 under section D, point 6, the following is added:
‘Article 29(1)(b) of the Staff Regulations refers to the possibility for officials to request a transfer to another institution or agency at any time in their careers. However, in the interests of the service, during their first three years of service newly recruited officials are transferred only in exceptional and duly justified cases. Any such transfer is subject to the agreement of both the institution or agency that originally recruited the official and the institution or agency in receipt of the transfer request.’
