Title: Broadband Business Fund

Objective: To support the provision of affordable broadband telecommunications services to SMEs and residential users in areas of Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Rutland, South Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire which do not currently enjoy affordable standard broadband availability.

Legal basis: Section 5(1) of the Regional Development Agency Act 1998, which sets out the purposes, functions and powers of the East Midlands Development Agency.

Overall budget: Unknown, depending on offers providers

Aid amount: Maximum GBP 1,9 million from UK State resources (expected to be reduced through a reverse payment mechanism)

Duration of project: At least 3 years

Other information: The provider selected to provide the service is mandated to provide non-discriminatory wholesale access to third party providers.

Non-opposition to a notified concentration

On 14 March 2005, the Commission decided not to oppose the above notified concentration and to declare it compatible with the common market. This decision is based on Article 6(1)(b) of Council Regulation (EC) No 139/2004. The full text of the decision is available only in English and will be made public after it is cleared of any business secrets it may contain. It will be available:
