Regulation (EC) No 1893/2006 — establishing the statistical classification of economic activities

WHAT IS THE AIM OF THE REGULATION?

It establishes a common statistical classification, covering all economic activities in the European Union (EU). This is known as NACE Rev. 2* (see key terms) and ensures compatibility between global, EU and national systems and statistics.

NACE: the acronym comes from the French Nomenclature statistique des activités économiques dans la Communauté européenne. Various versions have been developed since 1970.
