Agreement on mutual recognition between the European Community and the United States of America
The mutual recognition agreement (MRA)1 aims to promote trade in goods between the EU and the US by removing technical barriers.
Under the bilateral agreement EU governments approved on , the EU and the US accept the conformity assessment2 results carried out for specified industrial products.
The decision adopts the MRA with the US on behalf of the EU.

In their resolution of , EU governments agreed the principles of MRAs. On , they authorised the European Commission to negotiate mutual recognition agreements on behalf of the EU with certain non-EU countries.
