SUMMARY

Operating closely with the European Commission’s department responsible for health and consumer policy, the agency manages the European Union’s programmes in the areas of public health, consumer protection and food safety.

Based in Luxembourg, the Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency (CHAFEA) is an independent agency responsible for implementing a number of European Union (EU) programmes. It works in tandem with the European Commission, which is responsible for policymaking in these fields.

CHAFEA ensures the implementation of parts of the following programmes:

CHAFEA’s main tasks are to:

CHAFEA replaces the Executive Agency for Health and Consumers. This decision covers the period up to 31.12.2024.
