NOTICE OF OPEN COMPETITION: RESEARCH OFFICER — STATISTICIAN

The European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound), based in Dublin, Ireland, is seeking to recruit a Research Officer (m/f) — Statistician.
The post of Research Officer — Statistician will be based in the Monitoring and Surveys unit which manages Eurofound's monitoring instruments: surveys, observatories, dictionaries etc. The main purpose of this monitoring is to assess improvement in living and working conditions in Europe through trend analysis, synthetic reviews, survey data analysis and business intelligence gathering.
As the successful candidate, you will have experience of conducting research into areas relevant to Eurofound and a proven grasp of research methodologies, as well as an appreciation of survey methodology including sample design, development of questionnaires and other survey instruments, fieldwork organisation, data cleaning and editing, data weighting and quality assurance/control.
You will report to the Head of Monitoring and Surveys and will contribute to the whole range of activities associated with surveys and survey data, from the design and preparation of surveys to (policy-relevant) data analyses. You will be involved in project management and will also be expected to contribute to work related to the running of the Network of European Observatories (NEO) and to other projects as required.
The competition is open to candidates who:

are citizens of one of the Member States of the European Union, |

are entitled to full rights as a citizen, |
— |
have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the laws concerning military service, |
— |
are able to produce character references as to suitability for performance of the duties specified, |
— |
have a thorough knowledge of one official language of the European Union and a satisfactory knowledge of another language of the Union, including an excellent knowledge of English which is the principal language of the Foundation, |
— |
have a university education of at least four years leading to award of a degree in the areas of social sciences, economics, sociology, psychology, statistics, mathematics or related disciplines, |
— |
have at least two years' relevant professional experience. |
The successful candidate will be recruited to function group AD, grade 5, as temporary agent with a contract of indefinite duration.
