GLITNIR BANKI HF

On 24 November 2008 pursuant to an order of the District Court of Reykjavik, a moratorium on payments was authorised in respect of Glitnir Banki hf. (‘Glitnir’) pursuant to Article 100a of Act No 161/2002 on Financial Undertakings, Glitnir having satisfied the court as to the causes of its financial difficulties, what they entail and how it intends to reorganise its finances and that it meets the conditions for a moratorium on payments. Supreme Court Attorney Steinunn Grudbjarsdóttir has been appointed to assist Glitnir in connection therewith. The effect of the order is that legal proceedings may not be brought against Glitnir while it is in debt moratorium unless expressly permitted by law or if the action constitutes criminal proceedings involving penalty demands.

The authorisation in respect of the moratorium is in effect until 13 February 2009 at 13.30 hours when the matter will be readdressed by the District Court of Reykjavik at Laekjatorg Square, Reykjavik, Iceland. Creditors of Glitnir are entitled to make representations at this hearing.
