On 9 November 2020, the Commission received notification of a proposed concentration pursuant to Article 4 of Council Regulation (EC) No 139/2004 (1).

This notification concerns the following undertakings:

—	Crédit Agricole S.A. (‘Crédit Agricole’, France);

—	Viavita SAS (‘Viavita’, France), currently owned and controlled by the Crédit Agricole group via the subsidiary Pacifica S.A. (‘Pacifica’, France);

—	Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. (‘Generali’, Italy);

—	Europ Assistance France S.A.S (‘EAF’, France), currently owned and controlled by the Generali group via the subsidiary Europ Assistance Holding S.A.S. (‘EAH’, France).

Crédit Agricole and Generali acquire within the meaning of Article 3(1)(b) and Article 3(4) of the Merger Regulation joint control of EAF and Viavita (through EAF).

The concentration is accomplished by way of purchase of shares.

The business activities of the undertakings concerned are:

—	for Crédit Agricole: banking, financial and insurance services;

—	for Viavita: providing domestic assistance and personal services;

—	for Generali : insurance;

—	for EAF: providing assistance (travel, motor vehicle, accommodation and domestic assistance) and personal services.

On preliminary examination, the Commission finds that the notified transaction could fall within the scope of the Merger Regulation. However, the final decision on this point is reserved.

The Commission invites interested third parties to submit their possible observations on the proposed operation to the Commission.

Observations must reach the Commission not later than 10 days following the date of this publication. The following reference should always be specified:
