COUNCIL ACT
of 26 July 2010
extending the term of office of a Deputy Director of Europol

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,
Having regard to Articles 56(1) and 38 of the Council Decision establishing the European Police Office (Europol) (1),
Having regard to the Decision of the Management Board of Europol of 4 June 2009 establishing the rules on the selection, extension of the term of office and dismissal of the Director and Deputy Directors of Europol (2), and in particular Article 12(1) thereof,
Acting as the authority vested with the power to appoint the Director and Deputy Directors of Europol,
Having regard to the opinion of the Management Board,
Whereas:

The term of office of a deputy Director of Europol appointed by Council Act of 14 May 2007 (3), is due to expire by 31 July 2011. |

(2) |
The Deputy Directors of Europol are appointed for a four-year period extendable once in accordance with Article 38(2) of the Council Decision establishing the European Police Office (EUROPOL) (Europol Decision) (4). |

The Management Board presented the Council with an unanimous opinion proposing that the term of office of the present Deputy Director of Europol, Mr Eugenio ORLANDI, be extended. |

(4) |
On the basis of the opinion provided by the Management Board, the Council wishes to extend the term of office of Mr Eugenio ORLANDI as Deputy Director, |
HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:
Article 1
The term of office of Mr Eugenio ORLANDI is hereby extended from 1 August 2011 to 31 July 2015.
Article 2
This Act shall take effect on the day of its adoption.
It shall be published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
