adopting additional provisions for the application of the Community scale for the classification of carcases of adult bovine animals

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN

COMMUNITIES,

Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community,

Having regard to Council Regulation (EEC) No 805/68 of 27 June 1968 on the common organization of the market in beef and veal (1), as last amended by the Act of Accession of Greece,

Having regard to Council Regulation (EEC) No 1208/81 of 28 April 1981 determining the Community scale for the classification of carcases of adult bovine animals (2), and in particular the first paragraph of Article 6 thereof,

Whereas, in order to ensure the uniform classification of the carcases of adult bovine animals in the Community, it is necessary to make the definitions of conformation classes and fat classes more precise;

Whereas the measures provided for in this Regulation are in accordance with the opinion of the Management Committee for Beef and Veal,

HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION:

Article 1

The additional provisions referred to in the first subparagraph of Article 6 of Regulation (EEC) No 1208/81 shall be as listed in the Annex to this Regulation.

Article 2

This Regulation shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Communities.

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.
