DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 163/2021

amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement [2024/165]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1)

Commission Regulation (EU) 2020/1593 of 29 October 2020 amending Annex X to Regulation (EC) No 999/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards further examination of positive cases of transmissible spongiform encephalopathies in ovine and caprine animals (1) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(2)	Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1478 of 14 October 2020 amending Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1375 as regards sampling, the reference method for detection and import conditions related to Trichinella control (2) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

This Decision concerns legislation regarding veterinary matters. Legislation regarding veterinary matters shall not apply to Liechtenstein as long as the application of the Agreement between the European Community and the Swiss Confederation on trade in agricultural products is extended to Liechtenstein, as specified in the sectoral adaptations to Annex I to the EEA Agreement. This Decision is therefore not to apply to Liechtenstein.

(4)	Annex I to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

Chapter I of Annex I to the EEA Agreement shall be amended as follows:

The following is added in point 54 (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1375) in Part 6.2:

‘, as amended by:

—	32020 R 1478: Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1478 of 14 October 2020 (OJ L 338, 15.10.2020, p. 7).’

The following indent is added in point 12 (Regulation (EC) No 999/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council) in Part 7.1:

‘-	32020 R 1593: Commission Regulation (EU) 2020/1593 of 29 October 2020 (OJ L 360, 30.10.2020, p. 13).’

Article 2

The texts of Regulation (EU) 2020/1593 and Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1478 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union, shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 12 June 2021, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made (*1).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union.
