amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex I to the Agreement was amended by Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 102/2003 of 26 September 2003(1).

(2) Commission Decision 2003/42/EC of 10 January 2003 amending Council Directive 92/118/EEC as regards requirements for collagen(2) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(3) Commission Decision 2003/44/EC of 17 January 2003 amending Decision 93/52/EEC recording the compliance by certain Member States or regions with the requirements relating to brucellosis (B. melitensis) and according them the status of a Member State or region officially free of the disease(3) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(4) Commission Decision 2003/60/EC of 24 January 2003 amending Decision 2000/258/EC designating a specific institute responsible for establishing the criteria necessary for standardising the serological tests to monitor the effectiveness of rabies vaccines, as regards the approval of laboratories in third countries(4) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(5) Commission Decision 2003/130/EC of 26 February 2003 amending Decision 2001/618/EC to include the whole territory of Germany in the list of Member States and regions free of Aujeszky's disease and certain departments of France in the lists of Member States and regions free of this disease and regions where approved eradication programmes are in place(5) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(6) Commission Decision 2003/164/EC of 10 March 2003 amending Decision 1999/466/EC establishing the officially brucellosis-free status of bovine herds of certain Member States or regions of Member States(6) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(7) Commission Decision 2003/177/EC of 12 March 2003 amending Decision 1999/465/EC establishing the officially enzootic-bovine-leukosis-free status of bovine herds of certain Member States or regions of Member States(7) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(8) Commission Decision 2003/237/EC of 3 April 2003 amending Decision 93/52/EEC as regards the recognition of certain Italian provinces as officially free of brucellosis(8) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(9) This Decision is not to apply to Iceland and Liechtenstein,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement is amended as specified in the Annex to this Decision.

Article 2

The text of Decisions 2003/42/EC, 2003/44/EC, 2003/60/EC, 2003/130/EC, 2003/164/EC, 2003/177/EC and 2003/237/EC in the Norwegian language, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union, shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 8 November 2003, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(9).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union.
