Treaty of Amsterdam amending the Treaty on European Union, the Treaties establishing the European Communities and certain related acts - Part one - Substantive amendments - Article 2.4

The Treaty establishing the European Community shall be amended in accordance with the provisions of this Article.

The following Article shall be inserted:

'Article 3c

Environmental protection requirements must be integrated into the definition and implementation of the Community policies and activities referred to in Article 3, in particular with a view to promoting sustainable development.`
