Communication - Notification of the Professional Title of General Medical Practitioners in accordance with Article 41 of Directive 93/16/EEC

Council Directive 93/16/EEC to facilitate the free movement of doctors and the mutual recognition of their diplomas, certificates and other evidence of formal qualifications and particularly Article 41 thereof provides that Member States shall notify the Commission of the measures it has taken in conformity with Article 30. The Commission shall publish an appropriate notice in the Official Journal of the European Union, indicating the designations adopted by that Member State for the diploma, certificate or other evidence of formal qualifications and, where appropriate, the professional title in question.

Germany has notified the amendment to a designation in the list of professional titles published in the Official Journal C 393/4 of 31 December 1996.

The list of designations of diplomas, certificates or other evidence of formal qualifications as a general medical practitioner published in accordance with Article 41 of Council Directive 93/16/EEC is hereby amended as follows:

The entry for Germany under "Point 2 Designations of professional titles" should read:

"Facharzt/Fachärztin für Allgemeinmedizin"
