II.   OBJECTIVES

The objective of the Pirineos-Pyrénées EGTC is to implement and manage, with a view to sustainable development, territorial cooperation projects and measures within its spheres of competence, with the aim of strengthening economic and social cohesion. In order to meet its objective, the EGTC has the following roles:

1.

Promote the central Pyrenees as an international tourist destination under the name ‘Pyrenees’, including marketing;

2.

Develop efficient and innovative integration of local and tourism mobility;

3.

Promote the development of the Pyrenean area and its ‘somontanos’ (mountain slopes) as part of a territorial project integrating the sustainable management of its cross-border communication infrastructures;

4.

Commit to the development of mountain areas by taking on the current challenges: maintaining the population and adapting to ongoing changes: climate, economic and social;

5.

Involve local bodies, associations and economic and social stakeholders in local cooperation and development projects.
