    Calls for proposals — ESPON 2013 Programme

    In the framework of the ESPON 2013 Programme, Call for Proposals will open on 3 May 2010. Two Applied Research Projects, several Targeted Analyses as well as Transnational Networking Activities by the ESPON Contact Point Network will be launched. Deadline for submitting proposals is 28 June 2010.

    All the documentation related to the Call, including the procedure for applying, the eligibility rules, the evaluation criteria and the submission material, will be made available by 3 May 2010 at the ESPON Website.

    I.

    Call for Proposals for Applied Research Projects (Priority 1 of the ESPON 2013 Programme):

    1.

    European seas in territorial development (budget: EUR 800 000)

    2.

    Indicators and perspectives for services of general interest in territorial cohesion and development (budget: EUR 1 000 000)

    One single proposal will be selected for each of the two themes indicated.

    II.

    Call for Proposals for Targeted Analyses (Priority 2 of the ESPON 2013 Programme):

    1.   EITA — ESPON and TIA— Territorial Impact Assessments (budget: EUR 350 000)

    2.   ULYSSES— Using Applied Results from ESPON as a Yardstick for Cross-Border Spatial Planning and Development (budget: EUR 350 000)

    3.   RISE— Identifying and Exchanging Best Practice in Developing Regional Integrated Strategies in Europe (budget: EUR 350 000)

    4.   POLYCE— Metropolisation and Polycentric Development in Central Europe: Evidence Based Strategic Options (budget: EUR 350 000)

    5.   TPM— Territorial Performance Monitoring (budget: EUR 350 000)

    6.   BEST — METROPOLIS— Best Development Conditions in European Metropolis: Paris, Berlin, Warsaw (budget: EUR 350 000)

    7.   SEMIGRA— Selective Migration and Unbalanced Sex Ratio in Rural Regions (budget: EUR 350 000)

    8.   SMART-IST— Smart Institutions for Territorial Developments (budget: EUR 350 000)

    One single proposal can be selected for each of the eight themes indicated.

    III.

    Call for Proposals for Transnational Networking Activities (Priority 4 of the ESPON 2013 Programme):

    Capitalisation activities at transnational level by the ESPON Contact Point Network (budget: EUR 1 300 000).

    The Transnational Networking Activities shall provide targeted transnational capitalisation, awareness rising and dissemination of ESPON results with the specific objectives of (1) involving policy makers, practitioners, scientists and young academics and (2) promote the European perspective of territorial development, competitiveness and cohesion.

    Potential beneficiaries of the Call for Proposals for Applied Research Projects and for Targeted Analyses are public and private bodies. Only institutions confirmed as ESPON Contact Points can submit proposals and be included as partners in proposals on Transnational Networking Activities.

    The ESPON 2013 Programme invites potential beneficiaries to the Info Day on New Calls and Partner Café on 18 May 2010 in Brussels in order to get information on the new funding opportunities opened by the calls and to meet potential project partners.
