On 30 September 2008 the Council decided to consult the European Economic and Social Committee, under Article 95 of the Treaty establishing the European Community, on the

Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on substances that deplete the ozone layer (Recast)

Since the Committee unreservedly endorses the contents of the proposal and has already set out its views on the subject in its earlier opinion, adopted on 2 December 1998 (1), it decided, at its 448th plenary session, held on 21, 22 and 23 October 2008 (meeting of 22 October), by 119 votes with 1 abstention, to issue an opinion endorsing the proposal and to refer to the position it had taken in the above-mentioned documents.
