COMMISSION STAFF WORKING DOCUMENT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF THE EVALUATION of the EU action plan against wildlife trafficking Accompanying the document COMMUNICATION FROM THE COMMISSION TO THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT, THE COUNCIL, THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COMMITTEE AND THE COMMITTEE OF THE REGIONS Revision of the EU action plan against wildlife trafficking
Initiative summary:
Illegal trade in wild plants and animals remains a significant problem for nature and for human wellbeing. Wildlife trafficking contributes to the decline of biodiversity, threatens the livelihoods of local communities, undermines the rule of law, and can carry public-health risks. A revision of the wildlife action plan will enable measures by EU institutions and Member States to remain well coordinated and to address the most important current sources of the problem.
