Initiative summary:
Algae offer a largely untapped potential to be used for food, feed, pharmaceuticals, bioplastics, fertilizers or biofuels and for their limited carbon and environmental footprint. The initiative aims to increase the sustainable production, safe consumption and innovative use of algae and algae-based products in the EU, thereby contributing to the achievement of the objectives of the European Green Deal and the transition to a green, circular and climate neutral EU as well as post-Covid recovery.
