- Initiative summary:
- All new types of passenger cars and vans are equipped with eCall. This is the system that automatically dials the European emergency number 112 in the event of a serious road accident and helps saving lives. This initiative adapts the technical requirements and test procedures for the approval of eCall systems to ensure that they will continue to operate after the 2G/3G communication networks are switched off in the coming years.
