Proposal for a Council Regulation (EC) amending Council Regulation (EC) No 2965/94 of 28 November 1994 setting up a Translation Centre for bodies of the European Union (COM(95)0125 - C4-0207/95 - 95/0099(CNS))

The proposal was approved with the following amendments:

Whereas the Translation Centre set up by Council Regulation (EC) No 2965/94 should form an integral part of such interinstitutional collaboration in the translation domain;

Whereas the Translation Centre set up by Council Regulation (EC) No 2965/94 should form an integral part of such interinstitutional collaboration in the translation domain; whereas one of the aims of such integration shall be to avoid the development of a parallel structure for collaboration between the translation services, and in the medium term to use the Centre for such activities;

3a. The Centre shall participate as a full member in the work of the interinstitutional committee for translation in all areas covered by the collaboration. This collaboration shall also seek to have the activities whose amalgamation has been agreed between the institutions, offices and agencies carried out in the medium term via the Centre.

Legislative resolution embodying Parliament's opinion on the proposal for a Council Regulation (EC) amending Council Regulation (EC) No 2965/94 of 28 November 1994 setting up a Translation Centre for bodies of the European Union (COM(95)0125 - C4-0207/95 - 95/0099(CNS))

(Consultation procedure)

The European Parliament,

- having regard to the Commission proposal to the Council, COM(95)0125 - 95/0099(CNS) ((OJ C 143, 9.6.1995, p. 25.)),

- having been consulted by the Council pursuant Article 235 of the EC Treaty,

- having regard to Rule 58 of its Rules of Procedure,

- having regard the report of the Committee on Budgets (A4-0178/95),

1. Approves the Commission proposal, subject to Parliament's amendments;

2. Calls on the Commission to alter its proposal accordingly, pursuant to Article 189a (2) of the EC Treaty;

3. Asks to be consulted again should the Council intend to make substantial modifications to the Commission proposal;

4. Instructs its President to forward this opinion to the Council and the Commission.
