Initiative summary:
Gender pay discrimination is one of the reasons why women in the EU earn on average 16% less than men. Pay transparency improves access to information on pay, which allows awareness of discrimination and facilitates enforcement of the principle of equal pay. It also enables victims to bring claims. This proposal aims to introduce binding pay transparency measures, to make pay systems more transparent, improve understanding of legal concepts and to strengthen enforcement mechanisms.
