Initiative summary:
The Schengen Border Code provides for the absence of border control of persons crossing the internal borders between the Member States of the Union. It lays down rules governing border control of persons crossing the external borders of the Union Member States. The proposal aims at reinforcing Schengen governance by amending the rules applicable to the temporary reintroduction of border control at internal borders (persisting controls and possibly controls reintroduced to cope with pandemics).
