Amended proposal for a Council Directive amending Directive 70/524/EEC concerning additives in feedingstuffs (1) (94/C 242/08) (Text with EEA relevance) COM(94) 372 final (Submitted by the Commission pursuant to Article 189a (2) of the EC Treaty on 3 August 1994) As a result of the opinion delivered by the European Parliament at its plenary session of 18 to 22 April 1994 on the proposal for a Directive amending Directive 70/524/EEC concerning additives in feedingstuffs, presented to the Council on 12 July 1993, the Commission has decided to amend its initial proposal as follows, in accordance with Article 189a (2) of the EC Treaty: 1. after the ninth recital, the following recital is added: 'Whereas, in accordance with the guidelines in Directive 87/153/EEC (1), it is particularly important to ensure that the additive does not select resistance factors; whereas, should this be the case, tests must be carried out to ensure that these do not carry multiple resistance and are not transmissible and that there is no cross-resistance to therapeutic antibiotics; (1) OJ No L 64, 7. 3. 1987, p. 19.`; 2. in Article 92, the second subparagraph is amended as follows: 'However, such additives may continue to be authorized for a period of not more than one year if at least the conditions laid down in Article 8 (b), (c) and (e) continue to be met.` (1) OJ No C 218, 12. 8. 1993, p. 6.
