COMMISSION DELEGATED REGULATION (EU) 2024/2867

of 2 September 2024

amending Regulation (EU) 2018/848 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the presentation of the organic production logo of the European Union

THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION,

Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,

Having regard to Regulation (EU) 2018/848 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2018 on organic production and labelling of organic products and repealing Council Regulation (EC) No 834/2007 (1), and in particular Article 33(6) thereof,

Whereas:

(1)

Annex V to Regulation (EU) 2018/848 sets out the models of the organic production logo of the European Union that may be used, including a black and white model. However, a totally inverted white and black (negative) model with or without a delimiting outer line around the logo is not explicitly authorised. Annex V to Regulation (EU) 2018/848 should provide explicitly that such a model is also authorised given that it replies to a technical need on the ground.

(2)

Annex V to Regulation (EU) 2018/848 provides the colour for the green organic production logo of the European Union with the reference colour in the Pantone colour chart and in the CMYK colour model, where four ink plates – cyan, magenta, yellow and key (black) – are used. The equivalent reference in the RGB colour model, where three additive primary colours, red, green and blue are used, should also be provided for digital purposes.

(3)

Annex V to Regulation (EU) 2018/848 provides that a delimiting outer line around the logo can be used when the logo is on a background which makes it difficult to see. To ensure that the proportions of the height/width ratio are respected, a delimiting outer line should always be used when the logo is on a background which makes it difficult to see.

(4)

Regulation (EU) 2018/848 should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION:

Article 1

Annex V to Regulation (EU) 2018/848 is amended in accordance with the Annex to this Regulation.

Article 2

This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.

Done at Brussels, 2 September 2024.

For the Commission

The President

Ursula VON DER LEYEN
