of 29 September 2025
appointing members of the European Economic and Social Committee for the period from 29 September 2025 to 20 September 2030
THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,
Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 300(2) and Article 302 thereof,
Having regard to Council Decision (EU) 2019/853 of 21 May 2019 determining the composition of the European Economic and Social Committee (1),
Having regard to the proposals made by Member States,
After consulting the European Commission,
Whereas:

Pursuant to Council Decisions (EU) 2020/1392 (2), (EU) 2020/1555 (3), (EU) 2020/1636 (4), (EU) 2020/1709 (5) and (EU) 2021/465 (6), the term of office of the members of the European Economic and Social Committee ended on 20 September 2025. Therefore, new members of the European Economic and Social Committee should be appointed. |

Each Member State was requested to submit to the Council a list of candidates, consisting of representatives of organisations of employers, of the employed and of other parties representative of civil society, notably in socioeconomic, civic, professional and cultural areas, for appointment as members of the European Economic and Social Committee. |

Following the opinion of the Commission on the submitted lists of candidates delivered in accordance with Article 302(2) of the Treaty, on 16 September 2025, the Council adopted Decision (EU) 2025/1911 (7). By that Decision, it appointed, for the period from 21 September 2025 to 20 September 2030, the members proposed by the Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Greek, Spanish, Cyprus, Latvian, Hungarian, Maltese, Austrian, Romanian, Slovakian, and Swedish Governments. Decision (EU) 2025/1911 also appointed ten members proposed by the Belgian Government, twenty-two members proposed by the German Government, six members proposed by the Estonian Government, six members proposed by the Government of Ireland, twenty-three members proposed by the Italian Government, five members proposed by the Luxembourgish Government, ten members proposed by the Dutch Government, nine members proposed by the Portuguese Government, six members proposed by the Slovenian Government, and eight members proposed by the Finnish Government. Members in relation to whom the proposals for appointment had not been communicated to the Council before 10 June 2025 could not be included in Decision (EU) 2025/1911. |

By 15 July 2025, Member States submitted further lists to the Council, namely the lists containing twenty-four members proposed by the French Government, nine members proposed by the Croatian Government, nine members proposed by the Lithuanian Government, and twenty-one members proposed by the Polish Government. The Commission delivered an opinion on the candidates on those lists, as well as on other candidates not included in its opinion delivered before the adoption of Decision (EU) 2025/1911, namely two members proposed by the Belgian Government, two members proposed by the German Government, one member proposed by the Estonian Government, three members proposed by the Government of Ireland, one member proposed by the Italian Government, one member proposed by the Luxembourgish Government, two members proposed by the Dutch Government, three members proposed by the Portuguese Government, one member proposed by the Slovenian Government, and one member proposed by the Finnish Government, |
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
The persons listed in the Annex to this Decision are hereby appointed members of the European Economic and Social Committee for the period from 29 September 2025 to 20 September 2030.
Article 2
This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.
