of 31 July 2024
confirming the participation of Ireland in Directive (EU) 2024/1346 of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down standards for the reception of applicants for international protection
THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION,
Having regard to Protocol No 21 on the position of the United Kingdom and Ireland in respect of the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice, annexed to the Treaty on European Union and to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 4 thereof,
Having regard to the notification by Ireland of its wish to accept and be bound by Directive (EU) 2024/1346 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 May 2024 laying down standards for the reception of applicants for international protection (1),
Whereas:

Directive (EU) 2024/1346 was adopted on 14 May 2024 and entered into force on 11 June 2024. Member States are to bring into force the laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to comply with Articles 1 to 10, 12, 13, 17 to 29 and 31 to 34 of that Directive by 12 June 2026. |

By letter of 27 June 2024, Ireland notified its wish to accept and be bound by Directive (EU) 2024/1346. |

The participation of Ireland in Directive (EU) 2024/1346 should therefore be confirmed. |

(4) |
There are no specific conditions attached to the participation of Ireland in Directive (EU) 2024/1346 and no transitional measures are necessary. |

(5) |
In order to enable Ireland to start the process of transposing Directive (EU) 2024/1346 into its national law as soon as possible, with a view to ensuring its application within the time limit laid down in Article 35(1) of that Directive, this Decision should enter into force on the day following that of its publication, |
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
The participation of Ireland in Directive (EU) 2024/1346 is confirmed.
Article 2
This Decision shall enter into force on the day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
