    DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 111/2024

    of 26 April 2024

    amending Protocol 47 to the EEA Agreement, on the abolition of technical barriers to trade in wine [2024/1932]

    THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

    Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

    Whereas:

    (1)

    Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/889 of 25 April 2023 conferring protection under Article 99 of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the name ‘De Voerendaalse Bergen’ (PDO) (1) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

    (2)

    Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2824 of 11 December 2023 conferring protection under Article 99 of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the name Emilia-Romagna (PDO) (2) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

    (3)

    This Decision concerns legislation regarding wine. Legislation regarding wine shall not apply to Liechtenstein as long as the application of the Agreement between the European Community and the Swiss Confederation on trade in agricultural products is extended to Liechtenstein, as specified in the seventh paragraph of the introduction to Protocol 47 to the EEA Agreement. This Decision is therefore not to apply to Liechtenstein.

    Protocol 47 to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

    HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

    Article 1

    The following points are inserted after point 8zd (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2182) of Appendix 1 to Protocol 47 to the EEA Agreement:

    ‘8ze.

    32023 R 0889: Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/889 of 25 April 2023 conferring protection under Article 99 of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the name ‘De Voerendaalse Bergen’ (PDO) (OJ L 114, 2.5.2023, p. 12).

    32023 R 2824: Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2824 of 11 December 2023 conferring protection under Article 99 of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the name Emilia-Romagna (PDO) (OJ L, 2023/2824, 18.12.2023).’

    Article 2

    The texts of Implementing Regulations (EU) 2023/889 and (EU) 2023/2824 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union, shall be authentic.

    Article 3

    This Decision shall enter into force on 27 April 2024, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made (*1).

    Article 4

    This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union.
