COMMISSION DECISION

of 11 June 1987

amending the limits of the less-favoured areas in France within the meaning of Council Directive 75/268/EEC

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES,

Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community,

Having regard to Council Directive 75/268/EEC of 28 April 1975 on mountain and hill farming and farming in certain less-favoured areas (1), as last amended by Regulation (EEC) No 797/85 (2), and in particular Article 2 (3) thereof,

Whereas Council Directive 75/271/EEC of 28 April 1975 concerning the Community list of less-favoured areas within the meaning of Directive 75/271/EEC (3), as last amended by Directive 86/655/EEC (4), describes the regions of France included on the Community list of less-favoured areas within the meaning of Article 3 (3), (4) and (5) of Directive 75/268/EEC;

Whereas the French Government has requested, pursuant to Article 2 (1) of Directive 75/268/EEC, an amendment to the limits of the less-favoured areas listed in the Annex to Directive 75/271/EEC;

Whereas the partial classification of a new commune and the transfer of certain areas already included on the list of areas within the meaning of Article 3 (4) and (5) of Directive 75/268/EEC to the list of areas within the meaning of Article 3 (3) of that Directive comply with the indications and the figures, including the criteria for exceptions, adopted by Directive 75/271/EEC for the demarcation of mountain and hill areas;

Whereas the set of amendments requested by the French Government under Article 2 (3) of Directive 75/268/EEC does not lead to an increase in the total utilized agricultural area of the less-favoured areas and consequently has no effect on the limit laid down in that Article;

Whereas the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF) Committee has been consulted on the Agricultural Structure;

Whereas the measures provided for in this Decision are in accordance with the opinion of the Standing Committee on Agricultural Structure,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

With effect from the winter of 1986/87, the list of less-favoured areas in France as set out in the Annex to Directive 75/271/EEC is hereby amended in accordance with the Annex hereto.

Article 2

This Decision is addressed to the French Republic.
