(C/2024/6317)

1.

On 14 October 2024, the Commission received notification of a proposed concentration pursuant to Article 4 of Council Regulation (EC) No 139/2004 (1).

This notification concerns the following undertakings:

Alcogroup SA (‘Alcogroup’, Belgium),

Groep Vanden Avenne Commodities NV (‘Vanden Avenne’, Belgium),

Integrated Grain Processors Co-operative Inc. (‘IGPC’, Canada).

Alcogroup and Vanden Avenne acquire, within the meaning of Article 3(1), point (b) of the Merger Regulation, joint control of IGPC.

The concentration is accomplished by way of purchase of shares.

2.

The business activities of the undertakings concerned are the following:

Alcogroup distributes bioethanol for fuel and industrial applications in Europe.

Vanden Avenne supplies vegetable primary materials (including processed vegetable primary materials) to the feed, food and biofuel industries in the EEA. Vanden Avenne is also active in grain storage.

IGPC produces and supplies bioethanol for fuel purposes and by-products (such as CO2 and animal feed). IGPC has one production site in Canada and primarily sells its production in Canada.

Pursuant to the Commission Notice on a simplified treatment for certain concentrations under Council Regulation (EC) No 139/2004 on the control of concentrations between undertakings (2) it should be noted that this case is a candidate for treatment under the procedure set out in the Notice.
