JURE case-law
JURE stands for jurisdiction, recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters.
In this section you can find relevant judgments on judicial cooperation in civil and commercial matters delivered by:
- courts in the contracting states of the Lugano Convention (EU Member States*, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland), and
- the Court of Justice of the European Union.
* including the United Kingdom until the end of the transition period on 31.12.2020, as provided for in the Withdrawal Agreement.
Judgments by national courts are available in their original language only, but:
- some may also be accompanied by a summary in English, French and German (if the country in question provides one).
- an automatic translation tool is available to translate judgements and summaries of judgements into any official EU language.

The JURE case–law collection was created under Article 3 of Protocol 2 of the 2007 Lugano Convention.
That article required the European Commission to set up a publicly accessible system containing relevant judgments delivered under that Convention and other instruments that have an influence on its application.
Over time, the collection has been expanded and now contains judgments under the following:
- Brussels Convention - civil and commercial matters (1968)
- Lugano Convention - civil and commercial matters (1988)
- Brussels I Regulation - civil and commercial matters (2000)
- Brussels II Regulation - matrimonial matters and matters of parental responsibility for children of both spouses (2000)
- New Brussels II Regulation - matrimonial matters and matters of parental responsibility (2003)
- New Lugano Convention - civil and commercial matters (2007)
- Brussels I Regulation – recast - civil and commercial matters (2012)
- Succession Regulation (2012)
- Regulation concerning matrimonial property regimes (2016)
- Regulation concerning the property consequences of registered partnerships (2016)
