Bezpečnosť pri zásobovaní energiou

Ak má EÚ dosiahnuť svoj cieľ, ktorým sú bezpečné, konkurencieschopné a udržateľné zdroje energie, musí spolupracovať s vyspelými aj rozvojovým krajinami bez ohľadu na to, či tieto krajiny energiu vyrábajú, zabezpečujú jej tranzit alebo odoberajú pre svoju spotrebu.

V čase neistého dovozu energií, potenciálnej energetickej krízy a nejasnosti okolo budúcich dodávok, musí EÚ prijať opatrenia a nadviazať partnerstvá, ktoré zaistia bezpečnosť jej dodávok energie.

Kľúčovou súčasťou procesu pristúpenia kandidátskych krajín k EÚ je dosiahnutie súladu s jej právnymi predpismi v oblasti energetiky.
