Enter a full title or part of a title to find UK legislation results based on title.

Enter words to be searched for in the full text of the documents. You can combine a number of terms using the four text fields:

• Find: search for any of these words. The search will show results that match on any part of the title
• or: search for all documents containing at least one of the terms in the first three fields.
• with: search for all documents containing at least one of the terms in the first three fields and the terms in the fourth field.

Practical tips

• The search terms must be entered in English.
• The targeted search engine will find a word in all its various forms e.g a search for ‘fish’ will find ‘fisheries’ and ‘fishing’ etc

Select the desired type of text from the drop-down menu by clicking on the downward arrow beside the corresponding box. Only one choice can be selected at a time.  

Select whether you would like to search across legislation for a particular year or range of years. This is not a required field and can be left empty if you do not wish to narrow your search by year.

All legislation from 1988 – present day is available to search. Most but not all pre-1988 primary and secondary legislation, dating back to 1267 is available to search. Older legislation is being added to make the dataset more complete.
