Looking for words in the text

Enter here words to be looked for in the full text of the documents. You can combine a number of terms using the four text fields:

Find: fill in this field for any text search;

or: search for all documents containing at least one of the terms in the first three fields;

with: search for all documents containing at least one of the terms in the first three fields and the terms in the fourth field.

Practical tips

  • The search terms must be entered in Swedish, using the relevant special characters (ä, ö, å, æ).
  • For nouns and adjectives, use the indefinite singular form: SFS will automatically find the other forms of the word. Similarly, do not use conjugated forms of verbs.
  • You can use right or left truncation by adding + to a stem. For example, ‘+skatt’ can be used to search for ‘arvsskatt’, ‘gåvoskatt’, ‘sjömansskatt’, etc. and ‘transport+’ can be used to search for ‘transporträtt’, ‘transportpolitik’, etc.
  • There is no point in entering articles, prepositions, etc.
Document number

This allows document searches on the basis of the order of publication: documents are published with a serial number which starts again from 1 each year.

Enter here a number with one to four digits, preceded by the year (e.g. ‘1981:485’). To make a search on the year alone, you can use this field in the form YYYY/$ (e.g. ‘1981:$’), but in that case it is simpler to use the document date.

NB: do not use this field at the same time as the document date field: if you do, even if the year is the same, the system is likely to report zero hits because of the presence of incompatible criteria.

Document date

Use the two ‘year’ fields to restrict the results to documents published in a given period. You can choose all the documents in a particular year or in a range of years.

NB: do not use this field at the same time as the document date field: if you do, even if the year is the same, the system is likely to report zero hits because of the presence of incompatible criteria.
