Description
The website www.vestnesis.lv is an electronic version of the “Latvijas Vēstnesis” – official gazette of the Republic of Latvia. The website www.vestnesis.lv has been available online since 1995. However, currently only the paper version of the official gazette is binding.
The website www.vestnesis.lv is maintained by the same public limited-liability company that publishes the paper version of the official gazette “Latvijas Vēstnesis”. Shares of the company are held by the Ministry of Justice of Latvia. Information available online is the same as that published in the paper version of the official gazette.
For the convenience of users, the information on the website www.vestnesis.lv is presented under four categories:

Documents – legal acts (laws, Cabinet regulations, binding regulations of local governments, judgments of the Constitutional Court, information services of the ministries and other public authorities, etc.) issued by the public authorities of the Republic of Latvia (the Parliament, the Cabinet, the Prime Minister, ministries, institutions of the state administration, the Constitutional Court, municipalities of cities of national interest, etc.)

In the Saeima – information regarding the Saeima (Latvian Parliament), statements, agendas, transcripts of sessions, etc.

Information – information published in the official gazette regarding the latest developments in the country and press releases of the state authorities

Notifications – information published in the official gazette regarding the register of companies, as well as other legal notifications (e.g. announcements regarding opening of succession, summons to court, notification to creditors, etc.).
The website www.vestnesis.lv has extensive search options – information can be searched by date of publication (using the archive search of a calendar) or through the advanced search, which enables searching by various criteria and combinations (by word(s) in the text of documents or in document titles, by issuing authority, by document type and number, date of publication, date of entry into force, status, etc.).
The publisher of the official gazette “Latvijas Vēstnesis” also maintains the legislation portal www.likumi.lv. Legal acts published in the official gazette are systematically fed into this database. On the portal legal acts are available free of charge, both basic texts and consolidated versions – current versions, previous (historical) versions and versions with changes that have not yet entered into force (future versions). The database is the source of the Latvian legislation in the N-Lex website.
