Progress has been made in relation to these priorities.

Cyprus has supported the social partners' capacity-building efforts, which should be further supported by training.
At the end of 2002, an equal opportunities committee is to be set up and a budget allocated.
With regard to public health, the measures provided for in the action plan are either already in place or in the pipeline.

Following the signing of the Accession Treaty on 16 April 2003, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia acceded to the European Union on 1 May 2004.
