| (1) | De conformidad con la Estrategia de Lisboa, y tal como se confirmó en su revisión intermedia en 2005, Europa debe centrar sus políticas en mayor medida en el crecimiento y el empleo para conseguir los objetivos de Lisboa. | (1) | In accordance with the Lisbon Strategy, and as confirmed by the mid-term review of that strategy in 2005, Europe must focus its policies further on growth and employment in order to achieve the Lisbon goals. |
| (2) | El desarrollo de la Comunidad y el funcionamiento del mercado interior refuerzan la necesidad de datos comparables que permitan examinar el impacto en el mercado de trabajo de la estructura y la distribución de los salarios, especialmente como medio para analizar el progreso de la cohesión económica y social. | (2) | The development of the Community and the operation of the internal market increase the need for comparable data which allow the impact of the structure and distribution of wages on the labour market to be assessed, particularly as a means of analysing progress as regards economic and social cohesion. |
| (3) | Para poder realizar las tareas que tiene asignadas, la Comisión necesita datos sobre la clasificación de los salarios por características socioeconómicas, así como en relación con diferentes formas de empleo remunerado, que son esenciales para analizar y comprender el mercado de trabajo y los cambios que se producen en la estructura de la población activa. A este respecto, existe un amplio consenso sobre las ventajas que presenta la posesión de datos sobre salarios por decilas en relación con otras características del empleo. | (3) | In order to carry out the tasks assigned to it, the Commission requires data on the ranking of wages by socio-economic characteristics and also in relation to different forms of paid employment, which are essential to analyse and understand the labour market and the changes taking place in the structure of the labour force. In this regard, the advantages of having data on wages by deciles in relation to other employment characteristics are widely recognised. |
| (4) | La encuesta comunitaria de población activa es esencialmente la primera fuente de referencia, y la que tiene mayor autoridad, para información sobre el mercado de trabajo en la Unión Europea, y la información sobre los salarios, variable fundamental para explicar el comportamiento del mercado de trabajo, debe ser un elemento estándar de esta encuesta a fin de permitir un análisis más completo de los mercados de trabajo. | (4) | The Community Labour Force Survey is essentially the first and most authoritative reference source for labour market information in the European Union, and information on wages, as a fundamental variable to explain labour market behaviour, should be a standard element of this survey in order to allow for a more complete analysis of labour markets. |

| El Reglamento (CE) no 577/98 queda modificado como sigue: | Regulation (EC) No 577/98 is hereby amended as follows: |
| 1. | En el artículo 4, apartado 1, el punto 1 se sustituye por el texto siguiente: | «l) | salario del empleo principal,». | 1) | in Article 4(1), point (l) shall be replaced by the following: | ‘(l) | wages from the main job;’ |
| 2. | El artículo 6 se sustituye por el texto siguiente: | «Artículo 6 | Transmisión de resultados | Dentro de las 12 semanas siguientes al final del período de referencia, los Estados miembros notificarán a Eurostat los resultados de la encuesta, sin identificadores directos. | Los datos correspondientes a la característica de la encuesta “salario del empleo principal” podrán transmitirse a Eurostat en un plazo de 21 meses a partir del final de período de referencia cuando se utilicen datos administrativos para proporcionar esta información.». | 2) | Article 6 shall be replaced by the following: | ‘Article 6 | Transmission of the results | Within twelve weeks of the end of the reference period, the Member States shall forward to Eurostat the results of the survey, without direct identifiers. | Where administrative data are used to supply data corresponding to the survey characteristic “wages from the main job”, that data may be forwarded to Eurostat within twenty-one months of the end of the reference period.’ |

| El presente Reglamento entrará en vigor a los veinte días de su publicación en el Diario Oficial de la Unión Europea. | This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. |
| El presente Reglamento será obligatorio en todos sus elementos y directamente aplicable en cada Estado miembro. | This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States. |
