DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE
No 167/2016

amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement [2018/425]
THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,
Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (‘the EEA Agreement’), and in particular Article 98 thereof,
Whereas:

(1) |
Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2016/423 of 18 March 2016 authorising certain laboratories in Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and the United States to carry out serological tests to monitor the effectiveness of rabies vaccines in dogs, cats and ferrets (1) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement. |

(2) |
Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2016/448 of 23 March 2016 amending Annexes I and II to Decision 2003/467/EC in relation to the official tuberculosis-free and brucellosis-free status of Malta as regards bovine herds (2) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement. |

(3) |
This Decision concerns legislation regarding live animals other than fish and aquaculture animals. Legislation concerning these matters shall not apply to Iceland, as specified in paragraph 2 of the Introductory Part of Chapter I of Annex I to the EEA Agreement. This Decision is therefore not to apply to Iceland. |

(4) |
This Decision concerns legislation regarding veterinary matters. Legislation regarding veterinary matters shall not apply to Liechtenstein as long as the application of the Agreement between the European Community and the Swiss Confederation on trade in agricultural products is extended to Liechtenstein, as specified in the sectoral adaptations to Annex I to the EEA Agreement. This Decision is therefore not to apply to Liechtenstein. |

Annex I to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly, |
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
Chapter I of Annex I to the EEA Agreement shall be amended as follows:

The following indent is added in point 70 (Commission Decision 2003/467/EC) in Part 4.2:

The following point is inserted after point 100 (Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2015/130) in Part 4.2:

Article 2
The texts of Implementing Decisions (EU) 2016/423 and (EU) 2016/448 in the Norwegian language, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union, shall be authentic.
Article 3
This Decision shall enter into force on 24 September 2016, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made (*1).
Article 4
This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union.
