Total EUR 7 500 000 (for all aid provided for under the law, including other types of aid already notified and set out in XS 125/02 and XT 96/02).

Maximum aid intensity

Research and Pre-competitive Development:

1.

The funding for industrial research and pre-competitive development activities consists of grants, within the limits of resources available and in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 70/2001, as amended.

2.

The grants are awarded in relation to industrial research and pre-competitive development activities, as defined in Article 2 of Regulation (EC) No 70/2001, as amended.

3.

The grants are awarded as follows:

(a)

for industrial research: 60% of eligible expenditure;

(b)

for pre-competitive development activities: 35 % of eligible expenditure;

(c)

for technical feasibility studies in preparation for industrial research or pre-competitive development activities: 75 % of eligible expenditure;

(d)

for combined activities, involving both industrial research and pre-competitive development activities, the weighted average of the percentages for (a) and (b).

The aid intensity for (a), (b) and (d) above is increased by five percentage points if the industrial research or pre-competitive development project is in one of the areas qualifying for exemption under Article 87(3)(c) of the EC Treaty.

Date of implementation

The aid may be granted after publication of the public notice in the Lazio Region Official Gazette (Bollettino Ufficiale della Regione Lazio, BURL).

Duration of scheme or individual aid award

Open-ended; the aid scheme is in any case exempt from compulsory notification under Article 88(3) of the EC Treaty up to 31 December 2006, when Regulation (EC) No 70/2001 expires, unless the Regulation itself is extended.

Objective of aid

The aid is intended to promote research and pre-competitive development in the areas identified by the Lazio Region as industrial districts, local productive clusters and investment areas.
