Indicate why a State aid scheme has been established instead of assistance under the European Fisheries Fund: Given the particularities of fish farming operations, it is advisable to put in place a series of preventive measures in the interests of animal health and public health. The activities subsidised are covered by Article 14 of Regulation (EC) No 736/2008 (Aid for animal health measures) and are part of the 2012 animal health plan.
