Title

:

Sample tests at chicken holdings

Objective

:

The aim is to undertake sample inspections shall at 5 % of the holdings producing chickens, and at least 50 holdings will be visited. There are some 300 chicken producers in Denmark. The controls will take place, at the earliest, one week before the chickens are planned to be slaughtered, and are performed by a veterinarian specialized in animal welfare. The inspections concern mainly light intensity and animal density. The fee for inspections is paid directly from the Poultry Fee Fund to the Veterinary and Food Administration.

Objective

:

To provide for collaboration amongst the producers and between the producers and others active in the agri-food chain as well as for dissemination of best practice guidance, provision of training, education and advice.
