Note to the reader
The Directory of European Union Consolidated Legislation presents the general secondary legislation (sector 3: regulations, directives and decisions) organised by thematic chapters. It includes the last consolidated version of an act (or the basic act if never amended) and the latest modifiers (if not yet integrated in a consolidated text).
The acts followed by an asterisk (*) are excluded from the consolidation process. Such a decision is taken on a case by case basis, mainly for technical reasons (such as acts containing large multi-lingual tables in annexes in different formats, incompatible for consolidation) or other specific reasons (such as consolidation by other means – for example, the consolidated versions of the acts on the Combined Nomenclature are not produced as this consolidation is carried out in the European Commission's online customs tariff database TARIC).
Modifiers which are themselves modified are normally not separately consolidated, as they are included under the basic acts.
Acts with a short validity period are not consolidated.
