Welcome to the new EUR-Lex!
This new site is the result of merging the EUR-Lex site with the CELEX database on European law. Take a look at the new features of the site and future developments.
Extended cover: EUR-Lex offers access to the largest documentary database on EU law with more than 1.5 million documents in all the official languages and in several formats (HTML, PDF, TIFF and Word).
Multilingualism: EUR-Lex is available in all the official languages. It is now much easier to change languages by using the language choice bar at the top right hand side of the screen. English is the default language should a screen not be available in the selected language.
Free access: access to EUR-Lex is completely free.
Simplicity of use: EUR-Lex offers users easy access to documents on the basis of predefined lists (treaties, legislation in force, Commission proposals and communications) or via assisted search functions (by word, date, author, classification in the directory of legislation, Eurovoc thesaurus, document’s natural number, CELEX number, document type, document domain or publication reference).
Topicality: EUR-Lex is updated daily. Texts recently published or adopted are highlighted. It is now even easier to view the daily issues of the Official Journal of the European Union, the special editions with the secondary legislation in force on 1 May 2004 in the 9 new official languages, the treaties, the texts of legislation in force and the latest proposals and communications of the European Commission.
Rapid availability: as well as being available in the lists of the collections, documents can be retrieved using search terms, the Official Journal publication reference or the document’s natural number as search criteria.
Accessibility: EUR-Lex complies with the guidelines and recommendations of the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) in order to facilitate access by all users.
Future developments
- Full linguistic cover will be gradually extended to all screens and editorial content.
- International agreements in force, recent case-law of the Court of Justice and the Court of First Instance and the latest Parliamentary questions will be made available as structured collections.
- It will be possible for users to customise their personal profiles to define alternative languages when documents in the preferred language are not available.
- The advance search function will be made available by the integration of an existing CELEX tool (Expert4).
- LexAlert the automatic document notification service will be opened.
